Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

Ylang Ylang essential oil is derived from the star-shaped flowers of the tropical Ylang Ylang tree. It is associated with Aphrodite the goddess of love, beauty & sensuality. In Indonesia Ylang Ylang flowers are scattered on the beds of newlyweds to promote desire and bless the union with children.

Used extensively in making perfumes, it has a similar impact to Jasmine, In aromatherapy, Ylang Ylang is used to lessen tension and stress and to promote a positive outlook. Ylang-ylang is sweet, bitter, & cooling.   It helps to foster a state of peacefulness & has been recommended as a remedy for PMS, nervousness, anxiety & fear.

Due to Ylang Ylang’s powerful scent, only a small amount is needed for application and diffusion. Ylang Ylang blends well with Bergamot, Geranium, Grapefruit, and Vetiver.

 Properties:

Antidepressant, Antiseptic, Antispasmodic, Sedative, Nourishing

 How to Use:

  • Put on your wrists for a sweet & floral perfume.
  • Add Ylang Ylang to a warm bath
  • Add Ylang Ylang to a carrier oil & massage into the scalp for a deep hair conditioner
  • Place 3 drops in a bowl of steaming water to create a facial steam
  • Diffuse to create a soothing atmosphere
